About This Spot

Pulling up to Mexitaco feels like stepping into a familiar scene where the hum of a bustling food truck blends effortlessly with the rhythm of the neighborhood. Nestled along Nanes Drive, this modest spot invites a slower, yet lively kind of pace—where locals gather under the glow of streetlights, conversations mix with the sizzle of the grill, and the night stretches comfortably ahead.

The atmosphere here is casual and unpretentious, the kind of place where you lean into the moment rather than rush through it. Between the clatter of orders and the burst of laughter, there’s a warmth that comes from shared routines: grabbing tacos late after a long day, catching up with friends, or savoring the easy satisfaction of honest Mexican street food right in Houston’s backyard.

Menu offerings at Mexitaco aren’t just about flavor—they’re familiar stories told through food. Whether it’s the slow-cooked carnitas melting into a plate, or the neatly wrapped asado burrito packed with fresh ingredients, the experience is about savoring bold tastes that stay rooted in tradition. The humble street tacos invite you to explore a variety of fillings, each bite a small, flavorful celebration. Even the sides and accompaniments—rice, beans, spicy salsa—feel like essential pieces of that story, grounding each meal in authenticity.

Despite its simple setup, there's a genuine connection that keeps people coming back—not for show, but for those moments when food feels like comfort and community all at once. The steady stream of night owls and longtime fans alike speaks to a place more about heartfelt consistency than fleeting trends.

While the pace may pick up in busy hours, there’s an enduring sense that Mexitaco remains a local haven for anyone who appreciates good food without fuss, and the kind of gathering that’s both carefree and quietly rooted in the everyday.

I used to love these tacos but there way to expensive now. If any of y'all find cheaper tacos please let me know. $2 for corn $3 for flour. Still have that sign that says $1.50 a taco. Lies

Ordered 2 tacos and a torta for $12. Thought it was a little pricey but the torta was big so it was well worth it. Food was tasty. Be careful with the salsa it packs a punch.

This is my favorite place to get tacos. I’ve been going here for years. The only thing that sucks is you can’t call ahead for an order/order ahead of time.

Got 5 Tacos For About $7.50. And They Were Delicious. They’re Open Late Night As Well. I Love It.
